RESUMO

In this work, a simple and rapid method based on the lateral flow assay (LFA) has been developed for the detection of dual antibiotics. To achieve the quantitative assay and to reduce the non-specific adsorption, an internal system has been developed. A non-specific DNA was exploited as an internal standard and could be recognized by the DNA marker that was coated at the internal line. Two different kinds of aptamers were applied to recognize ampicillin (AMP) and kanamycin (KAM), and the distance between the detection line and conjugate pad was then optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the quantitative assays of AMP (R2 = 0.984) and KAM (R2 = 0.990) were achieved with dynamic ranges of 0.50 to 500.0 ng/L, and of 0.50 to 1000.0 ng/L, respectively. The LOQs of AMP and KAM were 0.06 ng/L and 0.015 ng/L, respectively. Finally, the proposed method has been successfully applied to analyze aquaculture water, tap water, and lake water, and hospital wastewater, indicating the established method could be used to monitor the environment.

RESUMO

Amine acid transformation is an important chemical process in biological systems. As a well-developed and acknowledged tool, chiral aldehyde catalysis provides good catalytic activation and stereoselective control abilities in the asymmetric reaction of N-unprotected amino acid esters and amino acid esters analogs, in which the key to success is the design of the catalysts derived from chiral BINOL aldehyde, which is based on the face control of enolate intermediates. In this review, one of the co-catalytic systems that combined with a transition metal to form a multiplex catalytic system and the well-established multiplex stereocenters of chiral aldehyde catalysis have been reviewed. Finally, a novel organocatalysis is prospected.

RESUMO

Nitrogen removal is often limited in municipal wastewater treatment due to the insufficiency of carbon source, and using food wastes fermentation liquid as carbon source could cut down the cost of operating and recycle food wastes. Food wastes fermentation liquid production and application as external carbon source were explored in the laboratory and full-scale system in this study. In the laboratory scale, lactic acid and VFAs were the main components of fermentation liquid, and the highest total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD) production was obtained with activated sludge as inoculum. The yield of TCOD was around 794.5 mg/g TSfed and NH4+-N was 3.5 mg/g TSfed. The denitrification rate with fermentation liquid was slightly lower than acetic acid and butyric acid, but higher than lactic acid and starch. In the full-scale investigation, the TCOD concentration in fermentation liquid was in the range of 6.9-12.8 g/L and the ratio of TCOD/inorganic nitrogen was 210.5-504.5:1. NO3--N removal increased from 52.1% to 94.2% after fermentation liquid addition, confirming the potentiality of food wastes fermentation liquid replace the commercial carbon source in wastewater treatment plants.

RESUMO

The long start-up time and large demand of Anammox seed sludge limit the practical application of Anammox process. In this study, the seeding strategy of fast start-up of Anammox process using 2.0 g VSS L-1 of anaerobic granular sludge (AGS) or activated sludge (AS) with various low concentration of Anammox sludge as inoculum was investigated. In laboratory scale, the start-up (achieving 70% TN removal) was shortened from 21 days to 5 days when Anammox sludge concentration increased from 0.02 g VSS L-1 to 0.2 g VSS L-1 with 2 g VSS L-1 AS as inoculum, and 16S rDNA analysis indicated the enrichment of Anammox bacteria, while the start-up failed with AGS. In pilot scale, the start-up was achieved in 10 days using 0.02 g VSS L-1 of Anammox sludge and 2.0 g VSS L-1 of AS, confirming the fast start-up of Anammox process with low concentration of Anammox sludge.

RESUMO

Roxarsone (ROX) and arsanilic acid (ASA) have been extensively used as organoarsenic animal feed additives. Organic arsenic compounds and their degradation products, arsenate (As(V)) and arsenite (As(III)), exist in the effluent from anaerobic reactors treating animal manure contaminated by ROX or ASA with ammonium (NH4(+)-N) and phosphate (PO4(3-)-P) together. Therefore, arsenic species in the effluent might be involved in the struvite formation process. In this study, the involvement of organic arsenic compounds and their degradation products As(V) and As(III) in the struvite crystallization was investigated. The results demonstrated that arsenic compounds did not substantially affect the PO4(3-)-P recovery, but confirmed the precipitation of arsenic during struvite formation. The precipitation of arsenic compounds in struvite was considerably affected by a solution pH from 9.0 to 11.0. With an increase in pH, the content of ASA and ROX in the precipitation decreased, but the contents of As(III) and As(V) increased. In addition, the arsenic content of As(V) in the struvite was higher than that of As(III), ASA and ROX. The results indicated that the struvite could be contaminated when the solution contains arsenic species, but that could be minimized by controlling the solution pH and maintaining anaerobic conditions during struvite formation.
